Special Event Organised under the same Climate Literacy Initiative On World Environment Day

 

PIC organized a programme on ‘Enhancing Environmental Awareness in Pune’ on 5th June 2018 at Sumant Moolgaokar Auditorium, MCCIA, Pune. The programme started with screening of film clips edited from two documentary films made by famous Hollywood actor, Leonardo DiCaprio addressing Climate Change impacts with vivid cinematography and narration.

This was followed by a panel discussion on the essence of the message from the films and on how Pune citizens can participate and achieve meaningful environmental protection and climate change action.

The experts who participated in the panel discussion included were Mr. Sarang Yadwadkar, Ms. Ketaki Ghate, Dr. Neha Bhadbhade and Ms. Saili Palande-Datar. The session was conducted by Ms. Isha Apte, PIC Member; and moderated by Prof. Amitav Mallik, Hon Trustee and Founder Member, PIC.  Various issues like environmental damage, water conservation, town-planning and development of infrastructure were addressed in the session. The experts emphasized on the need for Pune citizens to make informed choices, adapting an eco-friendly lifestyle and resisting environmental destruction. Mr. Yadwadkar concluded that Pune needs to be a healthy city rather than a smart city for a sustainable future.
